VoIP, new kid on the block
VoIP is known by several different terms,
voice over IP,
broadband telephone,
internet phone, is among many of
the names given to this latest type of phone service.
Simply put VoIP is the utilization of an internet (IP)
connection to carry telephone voice service.

connection, VoIP phone connections travels over your
internet connection. This type of connection is the

versions of VoIP
operate in two general ways. First
your home office PC can serve as the telephone.
This version requires software be loaded on to your
home office PC and a headset or specialized phone be
attached to the PC. The second version of the
broadband telephone requires an adapter box that
connects usually between your high-speed internet
modem (DSL or cable) and your home office network or
home computer.
